Johannes Hustedt studied music education an flute in Karlsruhe and Bremen with Renate Greiss-Armin, where he passed his exams with distinction. Master class courses with Auréle Nicolet, Alain Marion, Paul Meisen and András Adorjan completed his studies. Having the wish of musical and cultural exchange, he participates in concert activities worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician as well as in first performances, radio and TV- productions. In doing so he is often considered as a crossover artist of imrovisation and interpretation. The exploration of music from all cultural areas, especially Asia, South America and Eastern Europe left their marks.
He´s a guest at many festivals, e.g. "Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele", "Hohenloher Kultursommer", "Musikfesttage Frankfurt/Oder", festival of "Centro para la Difusiónn de la Música Contemoránea" in Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, "ProBaltica" Warschau, "Thomas-Mann-Festival" Nilda/Lithuania, GAISA-New Music Festival Vilnius, new opera Toronto, California State University, Los Angeles and New York City-Series. His CD-publications at KOCH International, RBM, Animato, SwissPan, Guild-Music and Sargasso got international recognition.
As a soloist he played with the "Sudwestdeutsche Kammerorchester" ( chamber orchestra of Southwest Germany) , the chamber orchestra of Lithuania, the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra of Vilnius and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Baden-Baden. Johann Hustedt was artistical director of the "Baltic Days" of the "Hermann-Hesse-Year 2002" in Calw
Since 1990 he teaches at the academy of music in Karlsruhe and is a popular lecturer worldwide; e.g. at the Foundation Hindemith Blonay, the Academy of Arts in Bremen, the universities of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador da Bahia and Los Angeles, plus at the national academies of music in Kiew and Vilnius. Apart from methhodical- didactically subjects his priorities at the moment are Baltic music and the "Mannheimer Schule".
Furtthermore as a spiritual teacher Johannes Hustedt works with the possibilities of energetic Feng Shui and healing sounds. in 2006 together with his wife,the artist Chai Min Werner, he established,, the "Kunsthaus-Durchlach", that is having its focus on making music and the fine arts perceptible for all human senses.
Since 2009 Johannes Hustedt is a frequent guest in Lex van Somerens concerts as a band member and as a soloist. With great musical virtuosity he plays various flutes from all over the world, which is why he is a real gain for the music of Lex and friends. His new instruments are the saxophone and the Duduk- a traditional woodwind instrument from Armenia with a very mystical and warm tone.
